brett favre with vikings?
what a threat the vikings would be if favre went there. a killer defense, amazing running back, and young wide recievers. it would be a challenge

It would make the vikings a very good team. I dn't think there receivers would help that at all though. i think they just signed berrian and he was always pretty bad anyway. if they do sign brett they may be a team without an identity, running? or passing? a lot of egos to fill.

amazingly injury prone rb. he's still good though, i just don't know that i trust a guy that came out of college with the label of 'injury prone' then he gets hurt twice in his rookie season.
Don't get me wrong, if the jets traded for him i'd be all smiles....well...maybe not because they'd have to trade their entire defense and the jets will be having a top 5 defense this season (in terms of points against).

they would win our division... 11-5... we would go 9-7

Re: brett favre with vikings?
you are really on the favre band wagon.
He played well last year...but he only played bad teams. The one good win they had was against San Diego and that team had just learned entirely new play books from the new coaching staff a few weeks prior. The other big time game he was in was Dallas...i think we all remember him getting tossed around like a gimp until Rodgers came in to salvage the day...
Then in the playoffs we played the mighty seattle seahawks. ROFLMFAO...Seahawks suck. They are in the worst division in football and posted great defensive numbers because they got to play the harvard grad in St. Louis, mr. bust in Leinart, and another HUGE bust in alex smith...all twice last year. That's 6 games against teams that would struggle in the SEC.
When Favre finally played a good defense, not named Dallas, the only points he scored was when Driver through the corner off the field and ran the ball in from 80 yards out.
I'm sorry, but favre lost that game against NY. Had GB won and played against NE, it would have been one of the worst blowouts in super bowl history.

Re: brett favre with vikings?
If the packers were able to run the ball well and supply pressure from kampan and KGB, they would have had a real shot. If Brett was forced to make plays the game would have been over in the first quater.

I agree! if we lose brett, whatever team that gets him will have a great season. (as long as that team isn't from oakland)

Wow. Reynolds. Damn. What happened between us?
I have been a Packer fan for years, his 96 QB rating is high because of a very weak schedule. The better the team, the less the Brett.

Even if he is the next Kyle Boller, I will not be asking "where is Brett Favre". You know why? Because Brett Favre will be resting nicely in a retirement home getting foot massages by 60 year old nurses.
Favre is done. He cannot beat good competition. I want a Packer Super Bowl, not another exit from the playoffs because Favre quit on his team.

Re: brett favre with vikings?
You should ask yourself, "Why were the Broncos tied with the Packers?". The Broncos were one of the worst teams in the AFC last year, yet they were very close to beating the vaunted Brett Favre.
The Packers did beat the Chargers but it wasn't thanks to Brett's heroics. That was a great team game. Not to mention the Chargers were terrible at the beginning of the year in 07 and posted multiple losses before they went on any kind of a winning streak (which was also thanks to the weak AFC west).
The only good opponent the Packers played last year was Dallas. Favre was stopped on 3 and outs twice in 3 possessions before he got hurt. I'm not advocating Rodgers as being a great QB, but why was he able to take the reigns and start moving the ball? Had it not been for a bogus pass interference call at the end of the game, Rodgers would have had one more chance at tying the score with 3 minutes to play.
I don't know how good Rodgers can, or will be. I do know that I buy into the belief that it is better to get rid of a player a year too soon than a year to late.

Re: brett favre with vikings?
did you see the stats favre put up in the broncos gamee...... it was because of him that we were even in that game. 3 touchdowns no interceptions. played a perfect game.
same for the chargers, 3 touchdowns did he have 1 interception or 0?? yea it was a good defensive game as well.
the cowboys game favre got sacked like 8 times in 5 minuetes. line sucked. plays called sucked, it was like 3 bombs in a row i think. that was rediculous. coaches ****ing up.

Re: brett favre with vikings?
I have come to question McCarthy's play calls at times but would not put the full blame on him. I have always thought that Favre can, and will destroy bad teams. But that is what those teams are, they are bad. The Broncos certainly qualified as did the Chargers at the time.
In my opinion, Favre does not have what it takes to beat a top 5 team in the NFL.

You are right that any team can beat any team, but why is it Brett hasn't beaten a quality playoff team since 1997?

I'm not a huge Favre supporter but you have to give him a little more credit than that. The guys win loss record is pretty impressive. I realize a lot of his career stats are inflated due to his durability but that is also a credit to him.
The one game i do hold Brett accountable for is the Eagles (4th and 26 team). Lobbing up that interception in overtime to Dawkins still haunts my dreams.

"Yeah" what does?
That Eagles game that drago is talking about is the exact game that was my actual boiling point. There was no reason a team as good as the Packers that year should have lost to an Eagles team that didn't have much going for them.
It was two years before they landed Owens and they had always been looking for a go to receiver. The Packers put 200 yards on the ground on them twice that year and still lost both games.
Favre throwing the back breaking pick in overtime was the icing on the cake.

Re: brett favre with vikings?
The Eagles made the superbowl two years later. That was the year the Buccanears won it. That Eagles team was not that good, the had decent offensive and defensive lines but with the Packers putting 200 yards up on the ground twice, tells me they were overrated.
The Eagles got stomped in the next round.

Re: brett favre with vikings?
That eagles team wasn't bad. They did have a solid defense and mcnabb was probably a top 5 QB at that point in his career. Losing to them really wasn't as bad as the packers losing to the giants this past season or to the broncos in the super bowl.
Had the refs not blown that AFC title game in 98 they jets would have kicked the packers square in the jewels that year. Much harder than the broncos did.
consider yourselves lucky.
