LOL. What Brett doesn't realize is he's not in the NFC anymore. Brett dead at age 38.
He's going to be chased around so much this year, I bet he sets records for interceptions again!!
Stupid Jets.. At least they got rid of that guy who threw slants.

good bye to pennington is something i've wanted to say since 2006. I would have taken almost any other starting QB from 07 than pennington.
Re: Bye Bye Brett - ESPN
i wouldn't be surprised if the GB picks up pennington because they have 0 and i mean 0 QBs that have even started a NFL game

I was thinking that same thing if the Jets were going to make a run at Favre they'd throw pennington in the deal. It looks like the dolphins have the inside track on the pennington sweepstakes.Mr. Reynolds wrote:i wouldn't be surprised if the GB picks up pennington because they have 0 and i mean 0 QBs that have even started a NFL game
i'm not going to enjoy seeing him in teal.

Re: Bye Bye Brett - ESPN
they had the browns. Favre was on the sideline talking with bubba franks, kellen clemens and the offensive line. Apparently Franks was translating the Jets playbook from the old packers' playbook.
Apprently the two systems are very similar but with the whole different language it will take a while to grasp. With as good as favre was at his former playbook, i expect him to have about 40% of the playbook down by week one.
I just hope come week 2 (patriots) he has enough tricks up his sleeve to keep it close and perhaps pull it out late. BTW, if he does beat the Pats, that would be the good team you've been looking for that Brett has beaten.

Re: Bye Bye Brett - ESPN
drago patriots suck. they are the ones getting old and sucking. if you look at their team they will not be in another superbowl for 10 years. they have no DBs the o-line is getting old same goes with the LB. they aren't a dominant team anymore besides there offense. they lost so many people on the defensive side.

Re: Bye Bye Brett - ESPN
The thing about the pats is they are built fromt he lines on out. as long as they have a dominating d and o line, they'll always be good. Even if their defense is worse, which i expect as well, their offense will still be putting up 30 points a game.
they'll be very tough to beat, but for whatever reason i do expect them to lose 4 or 5 games. Their secondary is bad and their linebackers are, like you said, old. I have heard Mayo is playing well, which is not what i wanted to hear.

Re: Bye Bye Brett - ESPN
Anyone else agree that Favre matching up against the Packers would be bad? I think their defense would eat him up...maybe I'm wrong. Truth be told I don't know all the ins and outs of the Packers football team.
Drago I know you don't think that highly of the Chargers, but I wouldn't count them out making the AFC Championship. Do you think all the talk of Buffalo is a little overhyped?

Re: Bye Bye Brett - ESPN
dude why would the packers D eat him up?
packers management was the one who drove favre off the team.
i don't know how much you read on it, but most of the players including charles woodson said that they were looking forward to favre competing for the job

Packers management has nothing to do with it, and I don't think his teammates would just lie down and let him rip them apart. I'm saying that the Packers have an above-average D-line with two solid (albeit old) corners that know how Favre plays. I don't think he would do that well, and the Jets would have to rely on a running game (God help you).

packers D is a little overrated. I dind't like how Kampan was stuffed when he ran up against an elite RT in Kareem McKenzie (former Jet ) of the Giants. Although McKenzie also humanized any patriot that lined up on the strong side as well. I realize he's (mckenzie's) a stud, but if kampan is supposed to be a stud as well, you'd expect a few wins going to kampan. As it stood, GB could not get to the passer.
if the packers matchedup with the jets this year, i'd think it would look quite a bit like they did against the giants. Both pass rushers would be pretty well neutralized in a low scoring game.
I think everyone is too high on the AFC anymore. I do buy into the hype that the bills will be a tough win this year, for whoever plays them, that doesn't mean i think they'll waltz into the playoffs, they just will not be pushovers.
I honestly believe the Chargers could miss the playoffs if there was anyone in their division worth their salt.

Patriots, Colts, Jaguars, Cowboys...seems to be a bit of a drop off after that, but i'd go with the Chargers or the Browns (yes...the browns)...

WHAT?!?! No Lions????
Just kidding. Those are some good picks. The only one I think I'd disagree on is Browns. I'd sub Vikings probably.

Re: Bye Bye Brett - ESPN
i forgot about the vikings. if jackson can play game manager and throw a few deep balls to berrian every game, they'll be tough to beat.
i still think the packers match up well enough with them to beat them once or twice.

Re: Bye Bye Brett - ESPN
Yeah, but I think they have potential to dominate the NFC (other than the Cowboys) but pretty much everything depends on if AD can stay healthy the whole season or not.

I hope you are not suggesting the Vikings are "unbalanced". They are stacked equally on both sides of the ball and have equally the same weaknesses on both sides of the ball.
Can't stop the pass.
Can't pass the ball.
They'll be interesting to watch this season. A lot of this rides on Peterson staying healthy.

Re: Bye Bye Brett - ESPN
I like GB's position. I mean rodgers really could suck, there is no telling but they played this exactly as they had to. They have a QB ready to take over for an aging star. Someone had to pull the trigger on that deal or you are going to have what the Browns did with Kozar. An aged hero with no ability.
I'm not saying favre has lost his ability but the packers are a team ready to win now and in the future (youngest team in the NFL). It was time for them to let him go. Even if he has a couple good years left.

A losing season following last season will be terrible. I'm glad they didn't cave to Brett's pressure, but man...

i really doubt they post a losing record, although i also doubt that the GB fans give Rodgers a chance. The guys just doesn't have much in the way of carisma and believe me, he'd need a lot of it to sway those fans into liking him at all, much less loving him.

Re: Bye Bye Brett - ESPN
that's the problem, rodgers will **** up quite a few times this next year but that doesn't mean he's a terrible QB.
If i had a choice between Favre on the jets or Rodgers on the jets, i'd take Rodgers. He's the choice over the long haul, favre is not.

This team doesn't go to the Superbowl with Brett.
Any quarterback following in Brett's shoes would be ****ing, let alone stepping into his shoes while he's trying to get back into them too. I just hope Rodger's is ready. If he sucks there's always Brohm, that dude I'm hoping is pretty good!

wow, i'll have to holdonto this thread. I'd be willing to bet one of these teams misses the playoffs...i'd have to have odds in my favor because i think they'll both make it but i have the browns being a very tough out as well as the patriots...as usual.

the browns did well last year. but they are in the worst division in NFL history.
they had some huge QB games last year.

omg, you just called the AFC north the worst division, not only in the NFL last year, but in NFL history. You are lost beyond ability to be found.
Pittsburgh, QB throws for 25 plus TD's and has a top 10 defense, with a solid ground game, two future HOFers on the offensive line and maybe the best NT in the NFL.
Cincinati- top five offense
Baltimore- Had the patriots on the ropes for their first loss of their season and let it get away on a bogus timeout call.
Cleveland - posts a 9 and 7 record after Anderson layed an egg in the final week of the season. Also had a top 5 offense with 3 probowlers on offense and upgraded two of the top 10 defensive tackles in the offseason (rogers and williams).
Give me a break, you have no idea what you are talking about. Ever heard of the NFC West? 49ers, seahawks, rams and cardinals? Only one of them finished above 500 and they all got to play each other twice!
Re: Bye Bye Brett - ESPN
haah i love messing with you drago and then you give me some ungodly explenation of how i am wrong.
you are the man!!
oh and by the way i know the AFC north is a good division and yes the NFC west sucks a huge one which is why favre should have went to the rams.

You have really set the bar for yourself. Even in your longest tirade of ramblings, I don't even think you could begin to stumble your way into an explination of a player actually getting younger.
