RIPON, Wis. - The Ripon men's soccer team barely had time to rest after Saturday's 1-1 double overtime thriller against Edgewood, before being thrust onto the field again Tuesday at Concordia (Wis.). The Red Hawks again fell behind early, before tying the game and sending it into an extra period. This time however, they couldn't hold on for a tie, as Concordia found the net in the first overtime, handing the Red Hawks a 3-2 loss.

Concordia (1-1-1) scored the lone goal in the first period, when Zach Lemier took a pass from Victor Mendoza to take a 1-0 lead in the 25th minute. The two teams battled evenly from there until after halftime.

In the second half, Concordia again struck first, using a Trevor Hess goal to double their lead in the 61st minute. Just one minute later however, Ripon's Joe Drexler netted the first goal of his Red Hawk career to keep Ripon in the game. Ripon (0-2-1) would tie the game up in the 77th minute when Kevin Cedarholm scored off some great teamwork that credited both Drexler and Zach Hershoff with the assist. Neither team scored the rest of the way, sending the game to an extra period.

In that extra frame, Concordia wasted no time, scoring the winning goal just three minutes in on a Dan Braun goal, which was caused by an assist from Hess.

Concordia out-shot the Red Hawks 23-8 in the game, but Ripon's defense was superb, saving eight shots, including five in the second period.

Next up for the Red Hawks will be Lake Forest College in their first conference match of the season. That game will take place at 3:30 p.m. in Ripon and will be preceded by the women's contest with the Foresters.
