Vick Signs with Eagles

Just saw this headline on SI.com. Crazy. I wonder how they plan to use him?

They keep saying that "McNabb has to be pissed about this"...

If McNabb can't beat out the dog humper, that's his own fault. Vick made all pro Roddy White look like a total bust, it took Joey Harrington and Matt Ryan to change people's minds. What a joke, Vick sucks.

Still not much info on the deal, it says two years but i haven't caught a dollar amount yet.

I'm with Drago and tictac on this. Drago's right that Vick can't throw a good pass, and more importantly he makes horrible decisions in the passing game. I'm with Tictac that I hope he fails. I also hope Stallworth never comes back to the league.

They brought up some really great points on the radio this morning (Steve Zabban). He said that McNabb's quote was "everyone deserves a second chance" and that's why he wanted him on the Eagles. Zabban's point was that it had NOTHING to do with football. So a QB with notoriously thin skin is wanting to make an even tougher competition for his own job.

Not only that, but do you think McNabb would have backed a white QB if he had been in the same situation? If say Jake Delhomme was caught for dog fighting, would McNabb still have things to say that Jake needs a break?

I don't think Vick is that awful of a quarterback. He's not the best ever, nor the best of among any current quarterbacks, but I think he'll be a solid backup that can be utilized in different ways. I don't understand bringing race into it though. Are you implying that McNabb only vouched for Michael Vick because he's giving a black man a 2nd chance, where he wouldn't do the same for a white man?

I think this has race written all over it. Of the three black guys I know and talk to, they all love Vick and Jackson (not McNabb for some reason). It's like they think one of their own has fallen and he needs to be picked up.

Maybe he does need to be picked up but i would rather make an example of him. What has he done to earn this second chance? How is he worth this much? I say let him fry, have him pay back his creditors with a job you or I would have to work.

I do not see the race angle either. I rarely agree with McNabb and this is no different but I do not see the race card being anything to do with it.
