Carroll vs. Edgewood

The Carroll Pioneers came out with a look they haven’t had in four years; no Lado, Lembke-Windler, Marie, Goranson, in their starting midfield. As expected there were growing pains. Their central midfield play was a little better than average but showed no signs of being the dominant unit it had been for almost four seasons. Starting at stopper was second year player Steve Koprowski who had a very nice game despite the lack of production from the central midfielders (including Craig Carlson) playing directly in front of him.

Carroll tried to get back to their old ways of dominating the outside of the field but without the proper personell, the one on one plays were thwarted with relative ease.
The main bright spots for the Pioneers came from its forwards and back three defenders. Returning all-region player Mark Hietpus had a great game and a couple near goals but was outplayed by teammate Andy Prentice who scored the game’s first goal on a beautiful flick from cross by sophomore Brandon Fredrickson.

The game was split into three 30 minute periods in which both team’s backups played in the final period. Carroll won each period 1-0, totaling a 3-0 win.
All in all, the first unit looked good and will definitely be in contention for the top spot in the Midwest Conference but it is clear that they have a long way to go.

Of course. I made some huge moves for week 5...if I don't have a huge week I'll be very surprised.
