Re: Post Season Awards
Wow, two Carroll guys for the POY's. Didn't think we had that seeing as we did not win the tournament. Congrats to all Players.
Hey Pender...you deserved to be on there, no doubt.

I don't know what's worse, Schemper not getting anything or Prentice getting second team the years prior to this.
Lipps lost to Schemper on the conference tourney. Why include the tournament in the voting if the keeper that blocks two shots and wins the game, is beaten out by a keeper blocked one shot and lost the game?
What a joke. Lipps is good but there is no way Schemper should have been left off.

Re: Post Season Awards
Craig- I got you now.
carter- I personally think that a lot of ppl got jipped this year on the voting so it didnt surprise me that Schemper didnt get on here but i just thought it was funny how this voting thing works. Ya know?

Re: Post Season Awards
Grinnell allowed 1.03
Beloit allowed 1.23
Schemper outplayed Lipps in the playoff game and in the regular season. The only reason I can think of that Lipps gets on the list, is that Schemper got ejected from the Ripon game.
Even still, red cards do happen and should not leave him off.
Stats aside, I thought Schemper was a better player.

This sort of stuff is always a joke. Some teams love to vote for their own players (maybe for recruiting purposes) some teams don't vote for any of their players because they don't believe in it (maybe not entirely but I think Carroll guys see this in the POW awards...)
There is no perfect system but including the players or even the fans (if they exist, haha), would add a new wrinkle to it.

Re: Post Season Awards
I think with this new formation if they continue it with Offensive and Defensive POY it leaves out all consideration for midfielders haha
How is a Midflieder supposed to get POY over forwards who are statistically dominant?? I think it has shown in the girls player of the year award. They have done the def/off system for years and a mid. has never won the offensive POY award....
ps. I think Ben should have made 2nd team, but for him he still has next year to prove himself

DAMN IT ALL!!! I thought i just proved Schemper was not only more consistent but ALSO won the MWC tournament IN A SHOOT OUT!!!
Aside from walking on water and giving birth to a forward that could actually score at halftime, what more do you want Schemper to do?!?!??!?!

Re: Post Season Awards
He isnt better i think lipps is better on any given day. Even if he could do that stuff he still wouldnt be better. I think the three top keepers in MWC are:
1) Stas
2) Lipps
3) Schemper
In that order too.

Re: Post Season Awards
When comparing statistics Schemper's were better and he played in 8 games compared to Lipps 7. And they tied both game during the year but Grinnell advanced in the MWC tournament so if I was a coach I would have given the nod to Schemper. Whether Lipps or Schemper is the better goalie you have to look at what they have done on paper. And thats the reason why I knew Stas would get 1st team. "Statistically dominant" and hes just a beast in between the pipes period
Re: Post Season Awards
True that. Stas is a beast and always will be.

Agreed. It is certainly close and I honestly do not know who is more talented but I do know that I was more impressed with Schemper. Not talking about one game either, I saw them each four times.
