Detroit Lions

For all you die-hard Lions fans....what the hell is it going to take to turn detroit around? I have heard their organization is rotting from within and needs an entire clean sweep.

I seriously think you could higher a bunch of college kids to run that team more efficiently than Millen and company (i know millen is gone...but still).

What say you RC? I say they will be back to 500 in 3 years and who knows past that.

It's hard to say. Check the other thread about how I felt about Marinelli. I really wanted him to succeed, but just because he deserved it for some reasons doesn't mean that those reasons should trump other, more important areas. They need new coordinators more than a new HC in my opinion, but I guess the next best thing is to get all 3 new. They need a whole new defense other then Simms, who is a quality player. Kevin Smith turned out to be a good pick, and Calvin Johnson has become the quality WR that they were hoping, but they need a few really good O linemen to stop the sacks. And they need one healthy, competent quarterback. I know you don't like him but from the looks of it I would like someone like Pennington on the Lions. I don't know who is available in FA, but I wouldn't want the Lions to get McNabb because I don't think he'd be very effective. I'm not buying into Cassell, so I don't want them to drop a bunch of money for him either. Maybe a qb in the draft? But I don't know which one.

With a team like the Lions it's so hard to say what to improve when the entire team needs improvement. They need to just get quality people in key positions to win, which any team needs. As sad as it is to say, but from what I've heard about the condition of Detroit lately the team might not even survive to finally improve to a quality level.

I thought millen should have been fired for more than a few years. But as soon as both Vilma and Pennington were shown to be replacable and Millen made no attempt to sign either...he should have lost his job.

Pennington would have been perfect for detroit, minus the deep threat of Johnson. Vilma may have been even better for a marinelli "cover who?" defense.

I really thought either of those players would be on Detroit in 08...shows what i know...haha
