Best first year starting QB's
The only criteria i am using is that these players could, or should be named starter by their respective teams for the first times in their careers. Hene may be third string for all we know, however he may also start, so i am adding him as well. Clemens is in the same boat, may be second string, may be the starter. Time will tell.
J. Russell
A. Rodgers
M. Ryan
C. Hene
K. Clemens
J. Flacco
T. Edwards
I am not as interested in how many wins each player gets or even their QB rating. I want to know who shows the most ability to be a winner and a long time starter in the NFL.
I go with Aaron Rodgers, not because i'm a Packer fan, but because he has had the longest time to sit out and learn. Reports out of green bay are saying that the actually throws harder than Favre (38 year old favre, not 24 year old favre). This is what Driver and Jennings are saying anyway.
He also is walking on to a very young and talented offense that is also in one of the weakest divisions in the NFL.

How is Edwards even on this list? The guy was a starter last year and did pretty well for them. Not too great with the deep ball and having Lee Evans on the team makes you wonder why the Bills are going with the weak armed smart guy.
I do like Edwards, unfortunately for him, he is in the same division as New England.

I also choose Rodgers. Along with an ample amount of time to learn the system (as well as my thoughts about the system he's in, which I've covered elsewhere) I think he showed everyone how he'll be in the Dallas game. He'll be good.

what, no vote?
So Ollie, you vote for Edwards but then dis-him in your next breath? Smooth. He would proabably be my second option behind Rodgers, i think Buffalo could look very tough on defense this year, and their offensive line will allow them to play with a lead.

Little tougher when teams game plan for you. I think Rodgers looked good in that game but so would have a 38 year old Doug Flutie when he was often called upon to sup for Brees when he was blowing games in San Diego.
Flutie was solid but you would never confuse him for an all pro. Rodgers has his doubts, along with all other first year starters, I just wouldn't be so quick to shine his shoes with the other guys in the poll.
I like what Matt Ryan brings to the table but with him being on Atlanta, it could be a long time before he shows anything. With rookie contracts as they are, he may be long gone by the time he shows signs of being a great or good QB.

Ryan was the best QB last year and he had no wide receivers. Atlanta has good WR's, he will put up some good numbers this year. I am looking for Atlanta to be pretty good with him leading the team.
