Ben

where to start....you have played the worst schedule, you have no big times win, just some wins over middle-bottom of the road conference teams, I think the st norbert boys are getting a little cocky and I believe you prob should have learned last year from the conf tourn showing.

I mean the ranking are a joke anyways, I mean Marian was ranked last week, Marian, that is proof enough

Who is getting cocky? We play Oshkosh in 2 weeks and we shall see how we stand after that game. After that we have our joke of a conference schedule with tough games remaining versus Elmhurst, Carroll, Grinnell and an away game at UW-Superior.

As far as the conf tourney last year what makes you think that had anything to do with cocky?

We knew that was going to be a tough game, we beat them in overtime just a few weeks back. If you saw the game we made one bad mistake in the back on a clear to the middle and paid dearly for it. We had a lot of chances and couldn't find the net.

All I can say is that this year we are doing a solid job defensively and converting on other teams mistakes out of the back.

Timing is precious. I still hold the same feeling as before but Mr. Soccerkid is a Carroll affiliate and am going to ask that the mods step in and orange him immediately.

On to the joke at hand.

Carroll player/fan calls out St. Norbert for having no big wins and barely gets by the soccer juggernaut that is Wisconsin Lutheran. I am really soaking this up right now. Carroll beat WL 1-0!?!?!?

Have to say that I am looking forward to Carroll facing a legit team before the others.

Will Post more after class....But Illinois Wesleyan play Principia tough to a 3-2 loss and Beat UW-Whitewater 3-0! I will consider that I good game we played them to a 2-2 draw without Prentice.

And Wisconsin Luth...Look at the Box Score! They didnt have a legit shot the whole game. We didnt finish and it almost killed us but we got the job done. 20-0 shots in the first half. Their goalie had 17 saves. These games happen.

And to finish it...I would be cocky too if my team was 21st in the nation Very Happy

Its good for the MWC

Again I have nothing to do with Carroll soccer. My post was at 7:35pm and the game was at 7pm.

I am not trying to take away anything from st norbert but I am just saying the rankings are a joke thats all.

I was at the Grinnell game and yes it was a poor clearance but I still think you where looking past them.

Ollie just craves being right, glad he's wrong...again.

Rankings of any kind tend to be a joke, even though we do power rankings once conference starts on this site, they are still sort of silly.

I had to join the site just for the simple fact to talk garbage to anyone that thinks there good at it or anyone making outlandish statements...lol

now with that said, how does snc get a national ranking of 21 playing teams like viterbo, clarke, and finlandia?!
I understand that there isn't too many good teams to play around the area, but if you know your going to be returning a solid squad why play such soft games?

D, to be honest it has all to do with hiring a new coach late. Our coach wasn't given the job until feb of 08. We got behind on scheduling and had to take home and homes with Lakeland and st marys. We made a multiple year commitment to the battle at the boarder and we took finlandia so we could start training camp 2 days earlier.

Trust me it's not the ideal teams to be playing but it's what has to happen. We are trying to work things out with Dominican, loras, uww but most don't have room till 2011.

Hope ya clears things up for ya.

Players should never have to make excuses for their schedules. As long as they are winning, that's all they can do. There is no reason to take away from the teams that are taking care of business just because they are beating up on lesser teams.

What I truly do not understand is why a St. Norbert team, returning virtually all of their players, had a coach that wanted a soft schedule in 2009? I don't know how that situation unfolded but it almost looks like the coach wanted to tally up wins early if only to say that they are the team to beat or the best team in Wisconsin.

I think anytime a new school gets a new coach its hard to approach established teams to schedule games.

Carroll scheduled two year home/away games with UWW/Osh/Carthage that made the schedule look strong last year because all were 2007 NCAA teams. Going into this year not one of those teams made the 2008 NCAA tournament so it makes are schedule look weaker....

It changes year to year so you cant really knock anyones schedule. The only thing I can say about St.Norberts is why play Finlandia? Thats the only beef I have of it. Otherwise I think giving up 2 goals in 5 games is impressive and being ranked 21st in the country is good for the conference....

The only reason to play finlandia was to arrive 2 days earlier to trainig camp. In our coach's eyes he could gain 6 practices (he loves 3 a days) by scheduling FU. I also think he was aware of how terrible they are.
