***Game of the Week***
Grinnell College @ St. Norbert College
Sunday, October 11, 2009
St. Norbert enters Sunday's match 7-3 overall and 2-1 in conference. Grinnell enters the match 5-5-1 overall and 2-0-1 in conference.
Anyone not think this will be the game of the week?
Predicted scores?

Grinnell 1-0
I think it is the game of the week as well, it will be very hotly contested.

Re: ***Game of the Week***
If Grinnel plays high pressure and with a lot of passion and urgency I got Grinnel 2 St.Norberts 1. The game will be won by SNC if they score first..
Re: ***Game of the Week***
Grinnell had to play 110 mins today in their 1-1 tie at lawrence. I played less than 30 mins against Knox. Could be a factor tomorrow.

Haha most of the starters, including myself played between 30-40 mins.
You sure you may not have any slip-ups Craig

you just throwing that out their or saying that was the reason you lost?
The Box Score says the pk was in the 53 min and the straight red was in the 85th. Thats almost a half hour to get it back...
I knew this game was going to be close, it always is recently. Wish I could have been there to watch..

Re: ***Game of the Week***
No just refering to the general poorness of the referreeing. He gave a red because he though he saw our defender step on their players back. He was 30 yards away. It was just icing on the cake at that point.
The pk looked like a handball from my angle. It looked like a push in the back that forced our defender to the ball.
I rarely complain about the officals but this was one of the worst I've been a part of, even for playing in the mwc

Re: ***Game of the Week***
That's tough Ben. I was hoping you guys would pull it out. You'll have your chance in the tournament but you have to make sure to not turn into my 03 Pio squad. All seniors, all talent, no heart. I would NEVER say you guys don't have heart. When i saw you play against Beloit, it was clear you guys are intense but just be careful about your older team staying committed.
it's the worst feeling in the world being picked to win conference and miss the tourney...speaking from experience on this one. Good luck in the coming games, you guys are still a solid squad.

Re: ***Game of the Week***
Hey guys, new to the site.
I usually watch a couple games every year simply for enjoyment sake and came across this site from a google search.
Today I watched the St Norbert/Grinnell game and thought it was a great match. There was a ton of intensity on both teams and really, they both played great games.
If I had a couple of points to make it would be:
1 – St. Norbert does not attack very well from the outside defenders. Everytime I looked up their #2 was waiting and waiting and waiting before he finally got into the attack. I really respect the coach of the st. Norbert and can not see how he would let this happen all game long!
2 – Grinnell has to have the biggest defenders in their conference. Say what you will about their soccer ability but man can the tackle! I really enjoyed watching their stopper and their outside defender, Prouty I think was his name. They are some really nice players and I would be they get conference considerations this season.
3 – Both teams had a problem moving up together. It was like watching a snake cut in half. I feel like they have the talent, the intensity and the know-how, perhaps I am missing something?
4 – Great physical game, if you have not gotten a chance to see either of these teams play, get out there and watch them!
Good luck the rest of the season and I will check back periodically.
Thanks

-from the Box Score looks like they couldnt finish...also going to throw out a prediction for MWC player of the week, Andrew Stephenson..Goal to tie LU and goal against SNC...

Re: ***Game of the Week***
Andrew Stephenson player of the week....think I called that one! lol. Although I would have also liked to see Andy Prentice get it with his 4 goal performance against Ripon...
Re: ***Game of the Week***
four goals in one game is great and all but Iwould take a game winner and game tier (is that a word?) any day of the week. Sorry Prentice but this is a good win for Stevenson. Congrats.

Re: ***Game of the Week***
If Stevenson had scored the 1st goal and Jared Padway had scored the 2nd goal, would you have given Padway the "player of the week"?

Re: ***Game of the Week***
If the match was close you have to take into consideration of what order the goals were scored. Scoring a game winner at 2-1 is a obviously impressive...scoring goal 2 in a 2-0 game that later turns into a 2-1 win is not as impressive.
Just my opinion but anytime someone gets a game winner, it should be looked at more favorably.

So, what is your answer to the question?

Re: ***Game of the Week***
No. I wouldn't have given it to Padway at all. He was one goal of 6 scored against Knox and had a goal in a tie against a strong Grinnell squad. Stevenson scored against a conference elite and in two other games this week (I think he had three total...might be wrong).
Anyway, it looks like Stevenson worked his way off the bench and into the starting rotation. Maybe we haven't seen the last of him?
With Grinnell's style of play, i could see any strong 1 vs 1 players putting up good numbers for the remainder of the year.

Ok, 6 points in 3 games are better than 5 points in 3 games. Stephenson wins

I saw Pease won it for the defensive POW. How did they decide on him over the other defenders or keeper?
