West Allis Central Vs Brookfield East Empty West Allis Central Vs Brookfield East

West Allis Central barely had enough players to compete Wedneday night but they did their best to give perennial power Brookfield East a game. Until the end of the first minute that is.

Seemingly without much effort, Brookfield East put on a soccer clinic against their woeful conference opponent, scoring five goals in the first half and only the stoutest of fans would want to stay to see what kind of damage they would do in the second. Chris Solberg looked like a potential All-State player with his quick feet and movement off the ball. He scored the game’s third goal on an attempted cross from end line that was accidently knocked in by a Central defender. As if the forwards and outside midfielders weren’t enough for Central, East’s best player, Luke Goodnetter, made quick work of the of the midfield. Goodnetter appeared to have a lack of passion or defensive prowess but who can blame him? What was nice to see was East playing a few close passes followed by a driven ball to the corner or to Central’s backline. At no point in the first half did it actually look like Central would mount any kind of attack.

Andrew Raymond had another goal and a wonderful cross from the right side. The ball was driven about 40 yards in the air when Raymond drove it to the back post, leaving no chance at a save for Jason Twaroski.

If East had a weak spot it was having a poor first touch. This may be attributed to the lack of need but it is never good to see a team that may contend for a state title knocking every trap four feet into the air. Given that this is an early season game, I will assume this issue will be addressed and resolved come October.
