idiots at tea parties
I saw one of the tax day tea parties here in Seattle and heard that they were going on all around the country, so I decided to look into it a little bit. http://taxdayteaparty.com/about/
I doubt that anyone on these boards went to a tea party, but I've got to do some venting about how stupid these people are.
Protest against out of control liberal spending?! Did the idiots who organized and attended these tea parties run out of ways to demonstrate their ignorance and show that they are brainwashed partisan pawns? In what twisted universe do democrats spend more than republicans? Take a look at the national deficits and debt over the last several decades. Take a look at the size of the bureaucracy. Where do you think the military budgets under Reagan and GW came from? Did the money come out of a magic box?
It is a testament to my anger management that I didn't go on a murderous rampage and kill every damn person at the tea party. ****ing morons.

We're proud of you for not going on a murderous rampage. Very proud.
I saw the same headliner in the Milwaukee paper about Madison. And was equally shocked at the same sentiment. I cannot believe they can even believe liberals are the spenders. I mean you can argue the business cycle has a lag time of 8 or 10 years until you are blue in the face but why was Clinton the only president in YEARS to leave a surplus?
I understand Bush walked into a **** storm with 9/11 and can understand some spending but at why point do people actually see the money he just blew away in an attempt at finding weapons that didn't even exist!
I'd say give Obama a little more than 3 months on the job before you accuse him of being the anti christ. Hell, you'd have to BE Christ to clean the previous regime's ****.

Re: idiots at tea parties
If they want to talk about what specifically the money is spent on, that is one thing. It is likely that they disagree with the bailouts (though even that is stupid, as Bush pushed the first massive bailout through) but agree with military spending. HOWEVER, that is not what the tea morons say they're protesting. If you're going to protest government spending, then you'd better protest every president since Reagan.
Stupid people make me angry, then I have to come home and turn into a blowhard to get rid of some steam. My girlfriend probably appreciates that now I do that on these boards instead of to her.

Well...one of our proud classmates was attending one of these ho-dags. Unfortunately, this country is getting more divided by the second. Bring on the second Civil War.

Strange thought but they were thinking it in the 60's and 70's too. Wouldn't it be crazy to think of former world power fighting a civil war? I mean it's not like the 1860's anymore...the weapons are far more important than the man filling the uniform.
Lets hope it never comes to that.

It won't happen, but there might be some extreme rioting eventually.

I agree...no way people line up against each other...I don't know that civilians today can man missile cylos and fly planes as quickly as the old Civil War guys could mishandle their muskets.

Don't lie. I know you think of many words, but I appreciate the biting of the tongue.

Re: idiots at tea parties
See if you can see what the Colbert report and the Daily Show said about the "unplanned" tea parties.
It was pretty amusing!
(hopefully you can see the part about the tea party!)

I'm watching the Daily Show right now. Pretty good. I can always count on them to point out hypocrisy.

Re: idiots at tea parties
I did a lot of reading today (kids taking a test in most of the classes) from a book I just started called "Impostor." It's by a guy who is a hardline Reagan conservative, and it is probably the most scathing review of GW's 8 years that I have seen. He calls the Medicare prescription drug bill the worst piece of legislation ever, says that Bush's high level appointees were perhaps the least informed group in recent history presidential history, notes that Clinton was without a doubt more fiscally conservative, and calls Bush's foreign trade policies stupid and extremely protectionist.
He references a relatively large number of conservative academics and Republican politicians that have publicly criticised Bush, and it is making me think that Keith Olbermann might not be the biggest Bush hater after all.
The reason I included this in the thread is because the author also says that Clinton had a smaller government, less complicated, less imposing tax policy than Bush did.

Re: idiots at tea parties
That's interesting. One, because you are reading a book on a hard core conservative and two, for what he is saying.
I really don't know much about the bills bush was passing, aside from 'leave no student behind' (which is the most hypocritical load of **** i have ever heard of in a capitalistic country).
Interesting how a guy can run on a ticket (clinton) saying he is one way but fiscally acting the other. I don't fault him, only find it interesting.
