Flaka's Beer Chicken Recipe Empty Flaka's Beer Chicken Recipe

Post by Flaka Wed Oct 01, 2008 12:12 am

Ok guys first of all,

Ingredients

:: Veggies, anything you want, but I use:
-Carrots
-Green pepper (or red, or yellow, I like green one better)
-Garlic
-Onion (1)

:: Chicken (4 pieces, or 5, 8, 10 it's up to you)
:: Oil (any kind)
:: Pepper
:: Salt
:: Oregano (optional, and just a pinch)
:: Beer, your favorite one!

First, cut all the veggies into small portions (you can add tomato, zucchini, celery, or whatever you want)
Second, place the pieces of chicken in hot oil and cook them only on the edges, then put them out of the pan.
Third, fry the veggies all together, and once they are almost done put the chicken on top.
Add salt, pepper, oregano (or any other seasoning you may like).

Open the beer and sip a little bit (or the whole can if you are really thirsty, then you open another), then add the rest of the beer on top of everything, covering the chicken half way or 3/4 of it.

Wait for 20 minutes (heat to medium high, but lower heat to medium low during the last 10 minutes)

And voilà!
Enjoy your chilean beer chicken!

Saludos!!!

Pd: do you remember I also cooked "pastel de papas" (potatoes's stuffed pudding) and then we played Monopoly? Very Happy

What do you cook everything in? Do you fry the vegies first and then put them into a glass dish or something? Do you put it in the oven or just cook everything on the stove? I thought I remembered you putting it in the oven....

First, fry the chicken put it out of the pan, then put all those veggies in the pan, fry them, when they are fried put the chicken back into the pan, add salt, ppper, + beer!

Everything is on the stove. i used the oven to cook the potatoes's stuffed pudding tongue

so flaka....i didn't fry the veggies and half to assume that it is healthier not to fry them right? I cooked some white rice to go along with it since it is filling...but man was it good.

I need to incorporate patatoes too. I'm thinking i could put them in with the veggies and just let them boil...if they were cut up enough i bet they would cook just fine.

I fried them a little just before put the chicken on top of them but you're right is healthier not fry them, I guess.

The potatos idea is a good one, we do that here too! and instead of beer you can use white wine Smile

White wine on chicken sounds fantastic!! Good idea!! And Drago, you can get really cheap white wine. They have the mini bottles for $1 in a bin by the registers at Discount.... or at least they used to.

we should make a day of it. I'll try it with wine but when i use a whole beer can for this purpose....seems like a lot of wine and that it might dry it out. I'll try it anyway.

flaka- you remember that boxed wine i bought down south? panchi didn't believe that i could stoop so low. Man did i show her. Smoke

damn right i am an expert at boxed maccaroni.

You know what sucks though? Since the gas prices have hit all the food in this damn country has nearly doubled. Boxed mac and cheese is like 1.25 at pick n' save. THat's flippin unreal considering it's freaking noodles and crappy cheese.
