MADISON, MCQUARTERS ON THE OUTS IN NEW YORK?

As the New York Giants prepare to defend their Super Bowl title, they might have to part ways with some of the guys who helped them win it.

Specifically, cornerbacks Sam Madison and R.W. McQuarters could be released on Saturday, according to Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News.

For those two veteran defenders, the question comes down to how many players coach Tom Coughlin will keep at the position. With Aaron Ross and Corey Webster slated to start and Kevin Dockery and Terrell Thomas poised to contribute now and in the future, Madison or McQuarters (or both) could be gone.

“Obviously coming off a year with what we did last year, the tendencies are to say that you want to keep all the same guys,” linebacker Antonio Pierce said. “But you know turnover in the league is night and day. It happens every day in seconds. But you don’t want to lose guys, veteran guys, rookie guys, or guys who you thought were going to contribute that didn’t pan out.”

Another player who might be gone by day’s end is receiver Sinorice Moss, a former second-round pick who might lose the sixth receiver spot to Brandon London. Running back Reuben Droughns and quarterback Anthony Wright also look to be in trouble.
