Why football???

I hate football and cant stand it, why do you like the sport???

Why I hate football....

1.) Stand around for 35 sec and then run for 5/10
2.) A billion commericals
3.) A billion timeouts
4.) Because of my athletic ability, If I was 6'7 I would be in the NFL, not hard
5.) too many rules/regulations
6.) cheerleaders
7.) Its not even "FOOTball"
8.) No celebrating???

The statistics are fun to follow and I like the debates. You are right about the skill set thing. If you are an abnormally large person, you could make the NFL. I see it all the time with linemen, they never play, then they get stuck in the middle and tear up the league.

Ollie, I have yet to play fantasy football but im guessing thats a reason so many people love it. My brother has showed me his a little and looks interesting but dont want to play for the simple fact I would actually have to then care about a team/player winning....

Yes, you would have a better shot at playing in the NFL if you were bigger. I would have a better shot at nailing hot chicks if I were better looking, and I'd be rich if I had created Windows. Unfortunately, I haven't invented anything and I look like a bag of foreskins, but that doesn't mean I hate Booba or Bill Gates.

I wouldnt have a better shot, I WOULD be in the NFL lol...and your comparison to Bill gates made no sense....

How does one aquire a bag of foreskins? Ethan, you have to see his point, it's a less "skill" sport than any I can think of. Look at that new movie coming out about the first round pick that is a tackle. The dude never played before high school. That **** rarely happens in baseball and never happens in soccer.

I too like the stats though. It's a fun game to dissect.

yeah...the time only goes for a short while, for example, 10 seconds, then the game stop for about 2 minutes. Then continues for about another 5 seconds then the game stops for about another 2 minutes. its retarded!!

I don't think I agree that football is less of a skill sport than others. When I think of the least athletic pro athletes I think of basketball. Sean Bradley, Manute Bol, George Muresan come to mind right away.

Just last night as I was watching the Colts-Pats my brother and I were talking about how freakish OL and DL are. Huge, strong, and still faster than most people. We've all seen a 250+ pound DL run down a QB or RB. Look at 40 times and leaping ability for OL, its ridiculous. I suppose craigaldo is right that all of that is purely physical ability rather than athletic skills, but either way they're doing something that no one I have ever known could do.

Not to get into an argument of semantics but you said that you "don't think football is less of a skill sport than others." Then you state that "Craigaldo is right that all of that is purely physical ability rather than athletic skills."

I'm not busting your chops, only saying that football does not necessarily need the skill or coordination of other sports but the athletic abilities within the game is truly amazing.
