Best Acting Performances
Yeah yeah another movie topic.
What has been the best acting performance that you have seen?
Examples for me:
Heath Ledger - The Joker - The Dark Knight
Daniel Day-Lewis - Daniel Plainview - There Will Be Blood
Kevin Spacey - 'Verbal' Kint - The Usual Suspects

Good call on Leo, BOMBER. If you had to pick one role, though, which would it be?

Don't make fun of me on this...
jack nicholson/tom cruise - a few good men
ledger- joker and brokeback mountain
Will Smith - Ali
Spacey - Usual suspects
Sean Penn - i am sam
funny thing is, my fav actor used to be tom hanks...i coudl throw him in there for saving private ryan...otherwise, not so much.

I know what you mean about Tom Hanks, Drago. I still consider him one of the best actors in terms of consistency at such a high level, though. For me his best roles were in Saving Private Ryan, Cast Away, and Road to Perdition.

Probably Blood Diamond. He was great in The Aviator but that movie dragged on so long that's all I really remember. And there's The Departed of course - he somehow managed to outshine all the other stars in that movie.

Both characters are amazing, and Daniel Day definitely did an unbelievable job with both, but I think the character of Bill the Butcher is a lot more animated than Daniel Plainview, and thus automatically is thought of first. However, seeing both movies at least 3 times I think he did a better job with Plainview. He was able to show more of a progression with the character throughout the course of the film, and even in the first 10 minutes you had a sense of what the character was about without any speaking.

I am impressed with DDL's method acting, and me saying I choose TWBB over GONY is saying I'll take a 10.5/10 over 10/10.
In terms of method acting, Heath Ledger takes the cake. The dude holed up in a motel for about a month in character as the Joker, keeping a diary. No wonder the dude couldn't sleep when the movie was done.
