AIG Bonuses

Looks like the majority of the AIG Execs. who received the "bogus" bonuses have returned them. I'm curious what people think of this. I think that executives, these in particular, have been heavily scrutinized as of late. I know that I personally have had ill feelings towards them. However, while trying not to brand these people saints, I do believe they did the right thing, and as far as I know they did not HAVE to return their bonuses. I could be wrong on this, but as far as I know they returned them of their own free will, if not some slight coercion from AIG. Would it have been better if they wouldn't have accepted them right off the bat? Absolutely. Nevertheless I think it's good that they did return the money, and like it was pointed out, many of the people who received the bonuses have been getting an unfair amount of criticism; they have essentially become the whipping boys/girls of the American people for the current economic situation.

Many of the executives that received bonus money from AIG were scared of violence on the street. I read an article on Yahoo that had security guards talking about violent threats the men they guarded received.
It only took two weeks for these men to return their bonus's. It's a sham to try to generate some good PR. **** them. The only reason they are returning the money is because everyone is screaming. NOT because it was the right thing to do.

the right thing to do has been totally lost on Wall street. It's awful when people can complain about making 250k per year while i try to grind it out with the bread crums. I truly do find that offensive.
