Dumb Trade? Empty Dumb Trade?

Post by drago Fri Oct 10, 2008 3:17 pm

I gave up:

Chris Johnson (ouch, i know)
Randy Moss

I get:

TJ Housh
Braylon Edwards
Eddie Royal

I figure since i'm doing so bad i can take the risk. All three have pretty high cielings and i do have enough RB's to do ok...we'll see.

I probably wouldn't have made that trade, but I wouldn't go so far as to call it dumb, either. Edwards can be removed from the equation because he is as close to worthless as a starting WR comes, and there is almost no chance that he will be a viable fantasy starter at any time this year. That leaves two decent receivers in exchange for a decent receiver and a definite starting RB.

There's my two cents. But hey, I can almost never figure out another owner's trade motivations, and Peels is at the top of my list of mystifying owners.

You can say that about Edwards but there is no denying his potential. If cleveland figures out their offense a little bit i could see edwards turning this season around.

It's basically me taking a shot on 3 guys as opposed to going with a very solid RB.

edwards has a lot of potential and i need all of it i can get. Royal has already turned into a viable starter. Basically i am 1 and 3 and have to take risks. I"m putting a lot of faith in a browns and bengals offense that has been awful so far. We'll see.

i still can't stand him. He is just not a runningback. You can call him a slot receiver and a punt returner but calling him an RB is just silly.

yea i think he has the mintality of a RB and the potential to become barry sanders one day. he's not a marion barber that can push and push, but he is kinda like a barry sanders. lets just say he can make you miss

reggie bush is more like desmond howard than barry sanders. Lets not forget that barry sanders could actually run with the ball on straight handoffs.

There is a vast difference between denying Edwards' individual potential, and denying his potential on the current Cleveland Browns team. My argument is that he is worthless not because of a lack of ability but because last year was a flash in the pan for Anderson and the rest of the Browns offense. There is absolutely no way that Derek Anderson and an over-the-hill Jamal Lewis can produce effectively. I actually like the Browns, but I'm still able to see how much they were overrated going into the season.
I offered Patrick Crayton in exchange for Edwards, and thought that I was getting the raw end of the deal by a good margin, but Peels was offended by the offer.

when you have a bad team in fantasy you have to take major risks. Anders, Lewis and the browns are overrated but despite all that Edwards is a top 5 wide out and could score a couple touchdowns on any sunday. That might only happen when Quinn gets in there but it still could happen.

Top 5, Drago? I'd qualify that as a reach. I would not have done that trade coming from a neutral situation, or if I was in the lead, but like you said you're in a "what do I really have to lose?" situation and are gambling. Royal seems to be doing very well, and TJ is leaps and bounds better than Ocho Cinco at this point. Edwards, like you said, could give you a multi-touchdown performance, I just don't think it's that likely it'll ever happen. That team is in trouble...but not Lions trouble yet.

From a talent stand point it is sort of hard to go against edwards, he's one of the few top five picks that is probably worth the draft slot...assuming anyone is worth that draft slot of course.

truth is, i couldn't care less, at 1 and 3 this team is done...oh well.

Ethan, i know you want portis but right now he is my only legitamently good player. Lynch is good but he is on the flippin Bills. The skins are sort of the offense i'd rather be a part of. That and Campbell seems to be allergic to spreading the love to guys like Cooley, Portis gets nearly all the redzone touches.

I can't get rid of him for meerly lynch and an average defense.
