what do you do at your job anyway? I just applied to a job at carroll, sees out of my league but it would be a nice change of pace.

what kind of job?

Well the warehouse stuff, customer service, and doing research online combined with data entry. All fun stuff.

something to do with community development. Not sure what that means. Actually, i know what that means...i don't have to wear a damn tie to work every day!

That's a good point. i don't enjoy it either.

it sounds like an important job. not a job that babies the **** out of their clients.

My cousin's husband (who coached for Carroll's football team) recently got a new job there where he talks with players in all sports if they want to leave the sport. Basically he is a combination of HR and marketing. I think you maybe would've enjoyed that. Somewhat like recruiting, but after they have decided to go to that school.

I'd really like any position where there is any semblence of decision making. I can't even sign cashier's checks here. It's just stupid.

I'm tired of this place, time to move on to something different.

it's like a power place, a bank, that is. if your not high up, you are just a little pawn in their game

I should be given my own radio show where I can just rant for 4 hours a day. Now that would be a job I could grow to love

Carroll University, the pioneer institution of higher education in the state of Wisconsin, seeks candidates for the position of vice president for institutional advancement. This position has broad strategic and management responsibility for conceiving and implementing long- and short-term advancement plans, including fund raising, board development and alumni relations. He or she will serve as the chief adviser to the president on all matters related to institutional advancement. The vice president will be responsible for the cultivation of donors, alumni, corporations, foundations, community groups and others as part of an overall development plan, and will lead a professional staff to set and attain annual campaign, development and constituency relations goals. * Work with the president and the board of trustees to articulate a clear strategic plan to increase both philanthropic and participatory investment from the institution's stakeholders.
* Develop close relationships with board members, major donors and prospects in all constituency groups.
* Manage a portfolio of current and prospective major donors to the institution.
* Engage in the identification and evaluation of prospective donors and personally solicit major gifts.
* Serve as administrative liaison to the advancement and trustee committees of the board of trustees.
* Provide leadership to the continued enhancement of Carroll's relationships with its external constituencies and lead the efforts of the President's Advisory Council.
* Recruit, retain and motivate a highly competent and dedicated staff.
* Administer budgets, management controls, policies and procedures for the office.
* Undertake other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:
The vice president for institutional advancement will be an experienced advancement professional with demonstrated capital campaign expertise, management experience and the ability to lead a team. Strong interpersonal communication skills are required to develop and enhance productive relationships with key internal and external constituencies. A bachelor's degree is required. It is expected that the vice president will demonstrate:

* Keen interest in, and compatibility with, Carroll University's mission, history and strategic direction.
* Skills to further enhance a successful advancement model to achieve institutional goals.
* Ability to work collaboratively and engage others in the advancement program.
* Experience in successful management of capital campaigns, especially related to science and health education initiatives.
* Strong understanding of a comprehensive advancement program.
* Exceptional communication skills.
* The ability to mentor, motivate and encourage a team-oriented staff.
* Experience engaging, supporting and cultivating trustees.
* A collaborative working style.
* Successful experience in establishing and executing strategic plans for the advancement operation.

I think it is cool that you are looking for jobs at Carroll. Did you want me to ask my mommy if she knows of any openings? Otherwise you could go to the barstow building, top floor, in the education department and ask her yourself. I am sure she would love to see you. She works from 8 to 12 noon now. I am not sure when school starts. She is full time then. She is very helpful.

Yeah,, you can ask her if you have time or something. It's hard for me to meet with people seeing as i work 8 to 5 (vomit).

It was actually a moving truck. So we'd pick their house up in the morning then drop their crap in the eveing. Sometimes made for reallylong days but it keeps you in shape and time flies by.

It's certainly not for everyonea nd after the two summers of working there i was 100% burnt out. I have to say, I'm more impressed with somone that works as a mover their entire life than someone that works white collar their whole life.

i don't think you get respect for being a mover but i certainly don't see myself being white collar all my life. i hope to coach college soccer or teach at a tech school.
