Top Movies in the Past 10 Years Empty Top Movies in the Past 10 Years

Post by RCBooba Mon Jun 30, 2008 2:04 pm

I made the statement the other night that I thought The Dark Knight would be the best movie in the past 10 years....then I kind of regretted saying it. It still has a chance, a very small chance, but it has some tough competition. If you had to pick the top 5-10 movies from 1998-2008 what would it be? I'll be posting my list in a little bit.

tough question...

i could back the dark knight selection...that movie was amazing...

Star Wars - Revenge of the Sith (despite Lucas trying to ruin it with his writing, watching Vader turn into Vader was awesome.
The Departed
Little Miss Sunshine
Requiem for a Dream

Ali (pretty slow paced, still great movie)
Dark Knight

hard to remember other movies...where is your list booba?

Star wars? wow.

I agree with the Departed and maybe requiem for a dream...but any movie with Steve Carrell can't be taken too seriously.

Sin City could be on there, any of the Lord of the Rings also. I didn't really enjoy the rings as much as most people did but they are about the only classics to come out of this generation.

hey RC...maybe you should make a list of best pictures over that last ten years and i can see if any are worthy. What i'm saying is, When did Titanic come out? silent

Revenge of the Sith? Really? Maybe the last 20 minutes...

Fight Club and Saving Private Ryan are up there IMO.

Saving Private Ryan is officially '98, and is on my list. The others (in no particular order) are:

Memento
Children of Men
Little Miss Sunshine
Bourne Supremacy
Big Lebowski (come on Drago, where are you on this one??)
Closer
Lord of the Rings Trilogy (yes I'm cheating)
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

last one is too hard. Maybe There Will Be Blood, maybe No Country For Old Men, or maybe Aviator.

Titanic came out in 97. Titanic is also one of the most overrated movies, in my opinion. It is the Brett Favre of movies.

hahaha....no worries, Drago. I'm sure I'll do a re-do, too. It's too damn hard. But I figured once Saving Private Ryan and Lebowski was shown to be in the timeframe you'd add them Very Happy

not that many posters here yet. Once(if) they get here i will mandate that they fill your movie thread with everything that you desire. I would love nothing more than for you to be able to sit back and judge everyone's movie tastes against yourself.

that said, i already made my list. So i have nothing more to add, except this smilie.

Already made your list?? You had 3 confirmed, surrounded by a whole bunch of maybe's and possibly's. 7 more at least, chief.

i think ollie being from iowa and all is a huge sissy. they probably dont' get all the movies down there. maybe you could send him half of your library of movies...infact, just send it to me and i will forward it on. Make sure Sin City is in the bunch, and you can keep the breakfast club and garbage like that. Wink

I already posted my movies. Maybe its that i don't think there are 7 more movies worthy of such an illustrious list?

I would need a list to pick from, I don't generally remeber movies like that. If Dumb and Dumber was in the last ten years, then i choose that one but i think that came out in 96. What about Emperors New Groove? who doesn't like that movie?

well those are my two, even if the first one doesn't count.

Points for Emperor's New Groove. That just leaves you 6 left (no you don't get to count Dumb and Dumber.)

I enjoy Dumb and Dumber, but regardless it's too old.

And you're thinking of Crash, which I would agree was overrated.
