Four Named to NSCAA All-North Region Men's Soccer Team

12.11.2009 | Men's Soccer
Waukesha, Wis. - Carroll University's Andy Prentice and Craig Carlson, Beloit College's Bo Wilkins, and Grinnell College's JP Prouty have been named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America NCAA Division III All-North Region Team, NSCAA officials announced today.

Senior forward Andy Prentice was named to the first-team while senior midfielder Bo Wilkins earned second-team recognition and senior midfielder Craig Carlson and senior defender JP Prouty were third-team selections.

Prentice tallied 17 goals and six assists for 40 points (most-ever points in a single-season) in 2009 and early in the season became Carroll's all-time leader in goals and points with 47 career goals and 111 career points.

Wilkins finished his outstanding career with a league-high nine assists. He had four goals and helped the Bucs qualify and advance to the championship game in the MWC Tournament.

Carlson played more of a defensive role in the central midfield in 2009 but still finished second on the team in scoring with nine goals and four assists for 22 points. He finished his career in fourth-place on the all-time points list (70).

Prouty helped anchor a defense that helped Grinnell qualify for their first NCAA Division III Men’s Soccer Tournament in school history. He earned first team All-MWC recgnition, his third such honor.

Grinnell, Iowa – Grinnell College was one of 99 institutions to have both its men’s and women’s soccer programs earn the Team Academic Award from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.

A total of 576 teams earned the award, 333 women’s squads and 143 on the men’s side.
Squads must have a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher to be honored.

The Grinnell women are coached by Heather Benning and the men by Brian Jaworski.

Grinnell's Prouty, Exarhos Earn NSCAA Scholar All-Region Honors

12.21.2009 | Men's Soccer

Grinnell, Iowa – Grinnell College’s JP Prouty ’10 was named to the first team of the 2009 National Soccer Coaches Association of America Scholar All-North/Central Region Men’s Soccer Team, while teammate Alex Exarhos ’10 was a second-team selection.

Prouty, a defender from Stilwell, Kan., is a biological chemistry major and Exarhos, a defender from Richland, Wash., is majoring in computer science. Prouty is a three-time All-Region selection, twice before earning third-team honors, while Exarhos was a third-teamer last year. Both again helped the Pioneers earn the Team Academic Award from the NSCAA.

Prouty and Exarhos, who are also multiple All-Midwest Conference selections, helped anchor a Pioneer defense that gave up a measly 1.43 goals a game. Both also ranked second on the team in assists with three, while Prouty was third in goals with five. Exarhos had one goal.

MWC All Region Selections Empty Re: MWC All Region Selections

I like that two Grinnell players made it, the deserved representation, but to put Exarhos on the list ahead of Rosenberg and their keeper. It's a reach, people that vote these polls love taking center defenders and just assume they are the reason for any success.
