From the Midwest Conference website:
http://www.midwestconference.org/msoccer/2009/MSOC_CP_09.pdf

RIPON, WIS. -- Carroll University, Grinnell College, St. Norbert College and Beloit College have all earned a trip to the 2009 Midwest Conference men’s soccer tournament and will compete for the league’s automatic berth to the 2009 NCAA Tournament this weekend at Carroll
University. Carroll and Beloit College meet in the first semifinal contest at 10 a.m. on Friday, with Grinnell and St. Norbert to follow at 1 p.m. Saturday’s tournament title match will begin at 4 p.m.

Senior goalkeeper Nathan Lipps enters the tournament backed by a Defensive Performer of the Week honor after he recorded two key wins against Illinois College and Monmouth. It came down to the wire, but those two wins propelled Beloit College into the 2009 MWC Tournament, its first tournament appearance since 2007 and sixth this decade. Offensively, Jackson Wilkins, a freshman, leads the team with 12 goals, while senior Marc Robinson has netted ten. Meanwhile,
seniors Bo Wilkins and Brian Maunze lead the team in assists with nine and seven, respectively. Senior John Erikson will lead a solid defensive unit against the powerful attacking force of Carroll.

Rick Mobley and his #15 Pioneers are shooting for their second consecutive tournament title and NCAA Tournament berth. Led by the foot of senior forward Andy Prentice, Carroll boasts a 8-0-1 MWC mark and 14-1-3 overall record. Prentice’s 40 points, 17 goals and 2.50 points per game lead the league. Another Pioneer with a hot foot is midfielder Craig Carlson. His nine goals are second on the team and one of them found the back of the net against Beloit during the regular season. Between the pipes, senior goalkeeper Stanislaw Miaskowski owns a 0.66 goals against average. Backed behind the strong play of Miaskowski and defenders Justin Ziegler and Scott Pease, the Pioneers
have only allowed 12 goals so far this season.

The Grinnell Pioneers, led by a talented senior class, has made the MWC Championships for the fourth year in a row. That senior class has helped Grinnell to a combined 23-6-6 conference mark in their four seasons and was also a part of a 2008 team that guided the Pioneers
to the league tourney title game for the first time since 1995. Seniors
Andrew Stephenson and Justin Koester lead the team in goals with 12 and nine, respectively, while junior keeper Ben Schemper has a 1.43 goals against average. Two other seniors, JP Prouty and Alex Exarhos, were All-North Region picks a season ago.

Senior forward Ben Vanden Avond’s 11 goals and seven assists lead a Green Knights squad that is searching for its sixth MWC Tournament
title in program history. With four game winning goals, Vanden Avond’s consistent play will be a key to avenging the Green Knights’ 3-1 loss to Grinnell during the regular season. Adam Sanchez and Kevin Conrath have both netted four goals apiece, with Conrath scoring
the lone goal against Grinnell. Net minder Joe Schwartz owns a 1.49 goals against average and is a force on defense for St. Norbert.
