Hey Grinnell, screw the Carroll homers, including me. You guys put up a good fight in your game tonight and do deserve credit for not only getting there but giving them all you had to give. We joke about you playing a shell defense (which is partially true) but most people want to look past how strong Schemper and Prouty were this year. Prouty would start on any team in the conference and if Schemper were on the same squad as Miaskowski, well there would be a battle. Teammates on both sides ...

Andy Prentice - The record hasn't really had any effect on the way I play. I go out and just play the game I'm capable of playing. The record is something that I will think about when the season is done.

Beloit Blows Lead and Crown

The Midwest Conference tournament had two teams that are not always used to the big stage of a conference final. Both teams came in hot, neither having more than two losses in conference, one sporting a great defense with the other sporting a top offense.

Grinnell’s defense is anchored by Andrew Mullins, Alex Exarhos, J.P. Prouty and goal keeper Ben Schemper. They traditionally play a flat back four where they sink their midfielders on top of their back ...

Norbert has had a few more serious chances than Grinnell but haven't put anything on goal yet. Ben is only playing "ok"...he tends to disappear for stints then comes back into th eplay out of no where.

I've been really impressed with Nick Hren of St. Norbert. He cut up Mullens like four times in one stint in the corner. Mullens is just not the good. Not sure why he gets so many conference honors through the year, but their best player is JP Prouty...and ...

Warning: Carroll Homerism follows.

A team ravaged with injuries, start three freshmen, with five freshmen getting significant time, somehow beat Wisconsin power-house UW-Oshkosh.

What thoughts were going through minds of the fans or on-lookers?

•	Oshkosh let one get away last year against a phenomenal senior class of the 08 Pioneers. No seniors, no chance.

•	Who are these starters? Ksobiech, Szescy, Johnson? Never heard of them.

I will say Carroll holds them to a 1-1 tie, and I say "holds" because I think Oshkosh will be the better team. They didn't lose anyone from last year and they'll be out for revenge.

It's going to come down to the Carlson/Howell matchup in the midfield and how the young kids on Carroll handle the speed of the game. They already got a taste in Whitewater and that didn't turn out very well...

Grinnell gets into tourny with much help:

Grinnell should have lost big time to Ripon Yesterday (maybe carrolls game had them tired). Best game I have seen Ripon Play. Outstanding Defense and midfield showed-up. Ripon the better team yesterday.

I will give details later, no time now, but here is a liitle insight.

Two things i noticed from the box scores:

1.) Freshman Andy Ksobiech had 8 shots, putting 4 on target, unfortunately with no goals. Nice job Andy, tough to get that many looks in a single game.

2.) Sophomore Mike Klug nailed his first colligiate. Was a it a sweet goal or whats the shake down? I know he posts here, so feel free to gloat a bit.

In a game that featured two teams with two different backgrounds, the action did not disappoint. St. Norbert College came in as a (until very recently) nationally ranked team who returned nearly all eleven starts, plus defensive power house Petro Czerniak. Despite losing their initial conference match to the young but scrappy Foresters from Lake Forest, the Green Knights came into Saturday’s contest as favorites.
Shots were even at 18 but Whitewater was able to get up 4-0 before Carroll knocked in two after the 73rd minute. I did not watch the game but from what I heard, Whitewater dominated possession and took advantage of Carroll's "less than physical" midfield.
Disappointing for the Pios but you had to know they weren't going undefeated and it is better to lose non-conference matches before the real games start.
